Assumption Abbey is a community of monks of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance, popularly known as Trappists. They support themselves by making dark, rich, traditional-style fruitcakes.
New Melleray is a Trappist community founded in 1849 by Cistercian monks from Mount Melleray in Ireland. It is a community wholly orientated to a contemplative life of prayer. The monks earn their living by organic agriculture and woodworking. There are about forty monks in the community.
